VESSEL - Vessel Static

What is

This is a maintenance procedure for recording details of a vessel, mainly for the purpose of providing documentation for a charter and assisting traffic/logistics personnel when determining suitability of a boat for berthing, capacity, loading etc

If several ITAS entities are operating on the same ITAS server, there are procedures for Shared Data. This enables a tighter control of what codes can be maintained on the associate companies whereby ONE ITAS entity is nominated as the Master and many associates can be linked thereafter to replicate data consistently

There is a bulk import process (right click when enter the procedure). There are only a few fields that can be imported i.e. Vessel name, description, GRT, NRT, Flag, Year Built and IMO number. If the ITAS entity is operating Shared Data, then can also include the list of associate entities that need to be update with the imports; the heading is ‘assoc’ and the data content is a list of associate codes separated by ‘.’ E.g. ld.lc.lp  BULK import can be used to UPDATE vessels but only for the IMO code.

There is also a right click feature for freezing existing Vessel Names.

For companies that need to track in detail how their goods are transported, there is a S01 feature (PHYSICALS/page 3/ctrl30_vesseltanks) that enables more static definitions; tank placements, capacities, coating and product exclusion to be assigned to the VESSEL static.  The process CHARTERS/Tank Details will use this data for scheduling goods placement through to discharge in Shore Tanks or delivery to customer, thereby providing a full AUDIT/trace for the goods.
  • Vessel/Tank Details Allows creation of skeleton tank layout for each vessel. Each tank will have a unique Tank Reference assigned to it that will be used throughout the system. Each tank should have the following details assigned:a maximum capacity (currently measured in cubic metres)
  • a coating code (see below)
  • comments about the tank (anything that may affect its nominated product; position in vessel and so on)
  • an optional group code
  • Coatings Standard code table consisting of Code and Description to be used to populate the tank static. Products that should be excluded from storage in tanks with the coating can also be nominated here via the drilldown button.
  • Tank Status/Groupings These codes serve two purposes when used in the tank nomination procedure. Status codes can be setup here to be used to mark tanks that should not be used for reasons such as contamination. Grouping codes are also setup here and these are used to mark tanks that can be commingled, that is, for the purposes of stowage, tanks with the same code can be treated as a single capacity.

‘How to use’ is either type the full vessel name or use the Ctrl F find feature and edit/maintain using the local ?field help for assistance on individual field content.

There is a simple report listing available from the tool-bar or you can produce your own report style using the ReportWriter.

The procedures WIP, CHARTERS, TRADE reference the VESSEL database in the traffic management where a new vessel/ship/boat skeleton can be setup for completion in VESSEL.
