LABIN - Lab Entry of Sample Results

What is

LABIN is the procedure to maintain the analysis of previously entered samples, either from TRADE, WIP/CHARTERS, STOCKS, STKMAN, PROSCHED and PROMAN processes. More than one sample/LABIN can be maintained for any source product but the user needs to speicfy/indicate which set of results are to be applied.

The grid illustrates some the product/origin description of the sample being analysed and allows maintenance of the analysis results/comments.  The analysis codes are maintained in PHYSCODES/Analysis with a sequence number for ordering in this grid. There can be many analysis headings for the samples setup and the scrolling can be cumbersome if all different types of samples have been selected, so use the filters to restrict grid content. Alternatively double click on the detail cell in the grid to access a full form representation of the sample and therefore easier maintenance.

The grid columns that are ‘greyed-out’ are the descriptions from the initiating entry of the sample. The results columns are maintained in their respective units e.g. degrees, percentage, parts per million (PPM), count per  100kilos(100k), count per sample (CPS). If the analysis code has been setup with no ‘unit code’, you can enter up to 12 characters of freeform description.   When the results are complete the 'complete' cell for that sample should be ticked.  A warning is issued, if there are analysis codes that have been specified as mandatory in the Portfolio template and they have not been entered for this sample. Marking as complete will remove the sample from the incomplete list but the sample record will remain available for viewing/amendment. An ITAS Entity that is operating mandatory QA process on Delivery-in or completion of Production will automatically update the ‘Goods status’ to indicate now OK and so can be used for stocks allocation etc.

Note1:  DOCDES can design forms using this data.
Note2:  Reporting is handled by REDBOOK
Note3: The detail feature for an individual row to expand into a full screen for data entry is only available on S01 x LABIN style=’M’.
Note4:  There is an alternative SAMPLES procedure that is more oriented to Origin Factory in-takes.
